And the worst sister award goes to me, once again.

kaytmatlin:

Hah, yeah, right. That’s what you think.

I don’t even know what happened. It’s a long story.

No, it’s what I know.

I’ve got time.

kaytmatlin:

What else is new?

Don’t say that, Katie. You’re the best big sister in the world.

What happened?

Everlasting Light || Katie & Drew

kaytmatlin:

Katie giggled amusingly, nudging him back roughly in the side. “Yes, that, too,” she agreed. Hearing him sigh, she felt the dramatic rise and fall of his chest that went along with it, obvious stress radiating off of him. She turned her head, examining his facial structure as he spoke. She nodded, not finding his distaste towards the subject as rude or standoffish. “Yeah, of course,” she agreed, easily dropping the topic of conversation. She knew him well enough to know when it was best to just leave it alone. And she also had learned when and when not to push him when he didn’t want to talk. With this particular subject, she knew it was the better choice to just do whatever he wanted. It was tough on them both and it was better to leave it as is to avoid any unneeded tension.

Before she could reply, his lips were embracing hers in a hungry, demanding kiss that caused her mind to go blank, the lustful monster inside of her craving for more. She kissed him back, a whimper of protest escaping her lips as he pulled away, moving to kiss her forehead. Trying desperately to focus on the conversation at hand, she took a deep breath, listening to his words, though his actions distracted her. “They like that I keep you in line,” she teased, knowing full well that his mother was thankful for Katie’s influence on her son. Growing serious again, she nodded as she listened to him speak. “I’m glad we waited. Of course, I wouldn’t had let it gone any other way. I was determined not to have sex until I was sure it would mean something. I didn’t want to do it just for the sake of doing it,” she shrugged, explaining why she had made the choice for them to wait so long. After a few moments of his constant teasing once the conversation had seemed to come to a close, she untangled herself from him and rolled over until her feet hit the ground. Standing upright next to the hammock, she held her hand out for his. “Let’s go upstairs,” she said, eagerly taking his hand into hers and nearly pulling him onto the ground.

“That’s true…” Drew agreed, laughing softly. “You do keep me in line though. I’d probably be failing grade twelve if it weren’t for you kicking my ass once in a while.” He teased, a smirk appearing on his lips. “Me too.” He agreed, nodding. “And yeah, I know you wouldn’t of.” He said with a laugh. “I wanted it to mean something too… and it did, which I’m happy about.” Drew added with a smile. His eyebrows knitted together as she slid out of his tight embrace, his eyes following her movements until she was standing upright on the ground. “Sounds good, babe.” Reaching his right hand out, he grabbed hers and stood up, his left arm looping around her waist and pulling her into the air; holding her flush against his chest. “Let’s go, then.”

Laughing softly, Drew carried her into the house, using his foot to open and close the door once again. “I have some shirts for you to sleep in too, if you wanna sleep in anything at all, that is.” He commented, turning the corner and making a beeline for his bedroom. Although he wouldn’t admit it out loud very often, Drew loved it when Katie stole his clothing. Something about her wearing it proudly made Drew’s heart flutter. “And here we are.” He said softly as they reached his bedroom, his left hand reaching out and clutching the doorknob, swiftly turning it clockwise and pushing the thick piece of wood open. Closing the door with his foot, Drew walked over to the bed and laid Katie down on top of the sheets before climbing beside her, his arms wrapping around her once he got situated. “But if you want my clothes, you’ll have to get up and get them yourself because I’m way too tired to move. Sorry, babe.” He muttered, his eyelids fluttering close as he moved his head closer to hers. “I love you.” He whispered, placing a gentle kiss on his ear as sleep began to take over his body.

Everlasting Light || Katie & Drew

kaytmatlin:

Katie knew that he was right about the situation and hearing him say it out loud only helped to calm her fears and put them at rest for the time being. She knew they would be okay in the long run and she was sure that she was excited more than anything else for their upcoming move to New York. “We’ll both be busy, anyway. I’m sure we’ll be used to the new environment in no time after we get there,” she said confidently. At the mention of Vince and nightmares, Katie’s eyebrows furrowed and she turned her head to look at him, letting out a soft sigh. “You still worry about him?” she asked softly, reaching out and tracing the contours of his face with a feather-light touch. “Well… at least you won’t need to worry about it so much once we’re gone,” she added with a slight shrug, feeling the guilt begin to seep into her stomach. Knowing that he was still suffering from the PTSD was tough on her, it always was. She felt like she hadn’t done much to help him lately like she used to in the past and she knew that she’s supposed to. Though she hadn’t expected it to completely go away, she wasn’t aware that he still dealt with it to such an extent.

Hearing that his parents had such an insight on their intimate and personal life was a little bit of a surprise to the older Matlin daughter. She had known that they were fine with having her stay the night with Drew, but she had doubts that they were completely aware of what her and her boyfriend got up to during those visits. She felt a deep blush creep up her chest and travel up her neck, warming her cheeks into a soft pink shade. She laughed, her hands coming up to cover her face in embarrassment over the fact of knowing that Mrs. Torres had heard her in the midst of having sex with Drew before. “We’re not that obvious or loud…” she mumbled, her words muffled by his lips against hers.

“Shut up,” she whined against his lips between kisses, though she knew he was completely right about that, too.

“I’m sure we will, too. And we’ll have to break in the new apartment.” He confirmed, nudging Katie’s side lightly. He nodded finally, letting out a sigh. “Yeah… I do. I wish I didn’t, though. I mean, sometimes it doesn’t worry me as much, then other days it’s basically all I can think about, other than you of course.” He nodded again, “Exactly. Once we’re out of here, I’ll get some peace mind. I hate that it keeps me awake at night still, that I get nightmares and that I still feel paranoid… but I deal with it.” He shrugged his shoulders, crinkling his nose. “Let’s just… stop talking about it, yeah? Not to be rude, but this topic brings a bad taste to my mouth and it makes me on edge and shit…” He said, letting his words trail off a bit at the end.

Drew let out a laugh as she covered her face, finding her sheepish behavior to be quite adorable. “Bullshit.” He stated with a laugh, his lips still locking with hers. “Make me.” He responded finally, deepening their kiss. After a few more moments of kissing her, he pulled away, trailing kisses up the side of her face and to her forehead. “I don’t mind that they know, though… It’s not like they really care or anything. They had sex at our age too, and I’m pretty sure they like it that I’m only having sex with you, and not whoring myself around with a bunch of girls. My mom always taught me to wait until it was with someone I love, so I bet she’s glad that I listened.” He muttered against her forehead, nipping at the skin gently. “I think one of the reasons that we’re so good together because we didn’t rush to have sex, you know? Some people do it on like, the fourth date, but we waited for at least seven months before we took that step. We didn’t rush.”

Everlasting Light || Katie & Drew

kaytmatlin:

Katie nodded softly, biting down on her bottom lip as she took in what he had said. Concluding that they basically felt the same way towards the upcoming move and changes, helped to ease some of her anxiety about it. She shrugged lightly, gently rolling over onto her back once again, looking up at the sky as she tried to figure out exactly how she was feeling. “I’m not scared of the move itself. I know I’m independent enough to be able to handle that and adjust to it easily,” she stated, her eyes glazing over as she took in the night-time scene above her. “I’m happy that it’s happening because it is what I want and I’m thankful that you’re coming with me because I know it would be ten times harder doing it alone, especially if I had to part from you after the past year together,” she added, blinking once and turning her head to throw a glance in his direction. She sighed, turning to face the stars again as she continued to think. “I guess I’m just nervous that something could happen to us, even though I know it won’t; I have irrational fears. It’s going to be a big adjustment and I just feel like so many things can go wrong and turn everything that seems so stable, into a disaster,” she said quietly. She was silent for a moment before shaking her head, as if pushing away the negative thoughts.

“But I’m more excited rather than anything else and there are so many things that I’m looking forward to,” she added, a hint of a smile crawling across her lips. “I know we’ll be okay, we always are, and we’ve been through so much together already. Soon, I’ll look back and laugh at the things I thought I was nervous about,” she finished, turning to face him with a visible smile. Her head now resting in the crook of his neck, she closed her eyes, absorbing the atmosphere and the serenity that surrounded them. “Besides, it won’t even be much different than how things are now. We’ll just be able to sleep in the same bed without sneaking around,” she teased.

Drew nodded, “You’ll definitely be okay. I mean, you kinda already take care of yourself, you know?” Shrugging, he rested his head on top of hers, continuing to listen to her speak. “That’s true. And I’m glad we’re doing this, too. If you told me I’d be moving with my girlfriend to another country after grade twelve… I’d call you crazy, but it’s what I definitely want, and I’m really stoked to start this part of my life with you. And I agree, if I had to go to another place by myself, I’d be lost—and I couldn’t go anywhere without you, not after this past year. We’re kinda connected at the hip, babe.” He added with a chuckle. “It won’t, I promise. I wouldn’t let it happen, I assure you.” He reassured her, honesty lacing through his words.

“It won’t be a disaster, we’ll have it under control. I know it’ll be a big adjustment, but it’s the best move for us so everything will work out. Just try not to worry your pretty little head about it, yeah? You’ve got enough stress until the end of the year, this plan is solid, don’t worry about anything and just let it all fall into place like it’s supposed to.” He instructed softly. “Same. Even though I’m nervous, I’m mostly excited. New York’s a whole new ball game.” Drew said with a smile, a pit of nerves and excitement building up in his stomach. “We will be, we always are. And hell, we’ve been through worse. And I’m also really looking forward to not having nightmares anymore. Vince doesn’t know we’re moving, and I’ll be able to rest easy once we’re there.” Cuddling closer to her, Drew rested his head on hers again. He looked down at her, tilting his head just a bit to place a tender kiss on the tip of her nose. “That’s true. Mind you, my parents know you sleep over, and they know we have sex. Well, at least my mom does, she’s heard you before.” He said with a burst of laughter, leaning down to capture her lips in a kiss.

“At least we won’t have to worry about being too loud once we have our own place.” He teased in between sweet kisses.
